Upcoming Children’s Events

Aside from our vast catalog of books and media, the Woonsocket Harris Public Library is an eventful place filled with opportunities to meet like-minded people or introduce yourself to new interests. We have a constantly updated list of events for children, teens, and adults that vary in topic and style, ensuring that everyone can find a great fit and attend a fun and fulfilling event or group meeting.

Toddler time is appropriate for kids 18 months-2 years with an adult caregiver. Children will listen to stories, sing songs and finger plays. There will be a time for puzzle and puppet play. Registration begins Tuesday 1/15/19. Please call the children’s room at 769-9044 Ext. Walk-ins  are welcome if there is space available.

Appropriate for children ages 3-6 with an adult caregiver. Children will be able to use their an imagination while playing with homemade play dough. Registration is required so we can make sure there is enough supplies for everyone. Registration will start Monday 2/11/19. Please call the Children’s program room at 769-9044 Ext.2
Introduction to Marine Animals 2:00 pm
Introduction to Marine Animals
Feb 19 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
The Biomes Marine Biology Center will present an Introduction to Marine Animals. The program  will give children a close up look at some marine animals such as a Sea Star, Horse Shoe Crab  and Spider Crab This will be an interactive presentation that will show the animals and talk about how they move and eat. The program will end with a puffer fish  demonstration. This program is appropriate for children 3&1/2 &up with an adult caregiver.  Tickets  will be available at the Children’s desk one week prior to the show.(Tuesday 2/12/19) Space is limited. You may call the Children’s room at 769-9044 Ext. 2.

Thursday February 21st 1:30-2:30 During School Vacation Week If you have read Dog Man and are in grades 3-5 join us for a fun filled book discussion. We will play games like“Who Am I” and Pictionary after discussing our favorite characters and situations. Juice boxes and snacks provided. Registration begins February 11th by calling 769-9044 x2

In order to cater to a broad audience and include interests for everyone We offer a multitude of programs, events, and regularly recurring classes for children in the toddler & pre-k age range. Programs include story time, music, puzzle time and more.

Music
is Fun

w/ Mr. Rowland

Takes place September – May on every other Friday.

He will bring music shakers for little ones to make their own music.

Mr. Rowland brings his guitar and sings new and classic songs for preschoolers.

Great for ages 6 & under with adult caregiver.

Located in the Great Hall Large Adult Program Room.

for Tots

Takes place October – June on every other Thursday.

A program just for the toddlers.

Includes songs, fingerplays, movement activities and rhythm instrument play.

Sensory Programs

Our sensory exploration programs can be enjoyed by children of all ages, abilities, and sensibilities with their adult caregiver. Listen to stories, sing a song, tell a felt board story, and visit our sensory tables for interactive play. Walk-ins are welcome so long as there is comfortable space in the room for all.
