Upcoming Children’s Events

Aside from our vast catalog of books and media, the Woonsocket Harris Public Library is an eventful place filled with opportunities to meet like-minded people or introduce yourself to new interests. We have a constantly updated list of events for children, teens, and adults that vary in topic and style, ensuring that everyone can find a great fit and attend a fun and fulfilling event or group meeting.

Make sure that you check our agenda regularly or sign up for our newsletter so that you don’t miss out on any of our amazing events and group meetings. We’re always adding to our schedule and there are always great opportunities on the horizon.

Book Buddies 3:45 pm
Book Buddies

Children currently enrolled in  1-3rd grade are paired with teen Buddies to practice their reading skills. They can read to their  buddy or be read to.  This is also a great opportunity for teens ages 12-17 to mentor younger children and accrue volunteer hours they may need. There will be a time  for coloring and or puzzles at the end of the program. Registration is required. Teens will need to fill out a permission form. Anne-Marie Forer of Tunes and Tales for Tots presents this Family Music night great for ages 6 & under with adult caregiver. Thursdays 6-7pm Tunes & Tales for Tots will have you sing songs and make music with Anne-Marie Forer Includes fingerplays, movement activities and rhythm instrument play. Parents attend program with children. Suitable for ages 6 & under When you sign up, you are signing up to attend all of the listed programs. Located in the children’s program room on selected Saturdays.   Bring your imagination. We supply the Legos! We will put your creation on display until the next Lego Club meets. As these are the smaller Legos, an adult must be with the child in the room at all times for safety.

FREE Tickets will be available Monday April 6th Tickets are given out so we do not exceed room capacity. Face painting, tossing games, movie, crafts and more! Ages 6 & under 1-2pm Ages 7-12 2:30-3:30pm If you have a child in both age groups do not worry speak with the librarian at the desk. Teens 13-17 please see the librarian for a volunteer form as we do give 4 community service hours (12-4pm) for volunteering for this program.   Located in the children’s program room. This is a new interactive storytime program that can be enjoyed by children ages 3-5 of all abilities and sensibilities with their adult caregiver. Sing our hello song, read a story, do fingerplays like Itsy Bitsy spider, and tell a story with our felt board. Then visit our sensory exploration stations. Register by calling 769-9044 x2 Walk-ins are welcome as long as there is space in the room. Cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page. Those who are registered will receive a phone call. In order to cater to a broad audience and include interests for everyone We offer a multitude of programs, events, and regularly recurring classes for children in the toddler & pre-k age range. Programs include story time, music, puzzle time and more.
