3-4:30pm Teen Time

Open to students in Middle School and High School this free ongoing event takes place every Friday and is a program in which teens can hangout with other teens, play games, and have snacks.  The teen librarian Ed is in the room at all times and make sure the electronic games and table top games are enjoyed by all participants who wish to play.  Walk-ins welcome so long as there is space in the room for more details call 401-769-9044 x3 or email teens@woonsocketlibrary.org   Should there be a cancellation due to weather or other events it will be posted on [...]

3-4p Jedi Academy

Open to Middle and High School Students Build a safe saber using pvc pipe, foam insulation, and colorful duct tape. Library provides all the materials. It is free to join. Just bring yourself and if you want to have even more fun bring a  friend so that you can test your saber and battle with your friend at the end of the program. After building your saber, Ed will teach you the forms for defense (Jedi) and attack (Sith) and battle with a friend.

Historian Marty Podskoch, author of the book The Rhode Island Civilian Conservation Corps Camps: Their History, Memories, and Legacy, will be giving a Power Point presentation on the 92nd Anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps Camps and work in RI at the library.

Before coming to the library, check in with Teen Services librarian Ed Fuqua to make sure there is space in the room. The game continues over weeks and there maybe times it is not easy for a new comer to join in also.   Usually takes place in the large program room next to the bathrooms but on occasion may be located in theh children’s program room. Crafty Kids Wednesday Each week explores a different type of art and artist From 3-4pm. Great for ages 8-12. Teens ages 13-17 can volunteer for school community service credit.   July 9th                  3-D Printing with Dan July 16th                Splatter Paint like Jackson Pollock July 23rd                Sculpting with Clay July 30th                Working with water colors August 6th             Framed Mosaic Cloth Art August 13th          Markers Picasso Style August 20th          You be the artist   Things will get messy! 1:30-2:30p Hula Hoops for beginners with Judy

Learn to Hula Hoop with Judy. 1:30-2:30 Whether you are experienced or a beginner, Judy can get you started. She brings all the hoops in different sizes and weights. She will dazzle you with her hoops that light up as she spins and twirls. Definitely at the advanced level. Registration is suggested but walk ins are welcome so long as there is space in the room. Children under 12 must be with an adult at all times.

Open to teens in middle and high school. This program offered at the library by Community Care Alliance teaches teens basic theater and improv acting. They come up with ideas for skits and act them out at the library. Snacks are provided.   Program usually meets in the large program room next to the restrooms. Occasionally the program may be found in the children’s room ask at the desk if you are unsure.
